Stanwell Straight Grain Model 75 - Estate
A Danish Masterpiece
From the absolute zenith of Stanwell’s production comes this magnificent Model 75 Straight Grain. Proudly bearing the highly coveted "REGD. No. 969-48" stamping from a period when the "Straight Grain" nomenclature was an elite designation reserved only for exceptionally clean briar displaying superior grain orientation.
The Sixten Ivarsson Influence & Remarkable Grain The Model 75 is a highly sophisticated shape that subtly reflects the legendary design influence of Sixten Ivarsson. The bowl leans forward with elegant intent, showing off a remarkable field of tight, vertical flame grain that completely encircles the wood.
The grain orientation here is a masterclass in briar cutting: the top rim and the entire underside of the shank are treated to an absolute explosion of dense, mesmerizing natural bird’s-eye swirls.
Completing this high-tier presentation is the original vulcanite stem featuring the early-era stamped Stanwell "S" logo rendered in brilliant gold/brass, a mark reserved exclusively for their premium lines of the era.
Near-Mint / Exceptional. For a pipe that is half a century old, the condition is miraculous. The rim is completely crisp with zero scorching or darkening, the nomenclature stamps are sharp and deeply legible, and the stem holds a flawless, mirror-polished black shine.
Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
