BBB Silver-Mounted Billiard - 1977 Estate
An Immaculate, Once Smoked London Classic Cloaked in Exceptional Birdseye Grain
Established as one of the oldest and most respected names in British pipe making, BBB (Britains Best Briar) has long been synonymous with traditional London elegance. This particular 1977 hallmarked specimen is a breathtaking example of what happens when a heritage factory line secures an extraordinary block of briar. Featuring a striking sterling silver mount and an unbelievable display of complex grain, this piece is an absolute prize for collectors of high-grade English estates.
The Briar & Geometry
Cut into a robust, flawlessly proportioned traditional straight Billiard, the stummel boasts a staggering, dense blanket of kaleidoscopic birdseye grain that wraps entirely around both flanks of the bowl. The wood is dressed in a rich, warm chestnut-amber contrast finish that gives the complex grain incredible visual depth. A hallmarked sterling silver band caps the shank perfectly, creating a beautiful transition to the jet-black stem.
Curation Notes:
Tier: Vintage British Classics / High-Grade Silver Mounts
Condition: Exceptional. This pipe has been smoked a single time and meticulously cared for. The chamber, draft hole, and rim are pristine and completely free of charring, darkening, or wear. The briar finish retains its full, glossy factory lustre. One or two factory fills, that are only apparent on incredibly close inspection.
Stem & Brightwork: Premium, original vulcanite stem with a crisp, inlaid metal BBB diamond logo. The sterling silver mount is highly polished and features deep, un-buffed hallmarks.
Nomenclature: Complete and perfectly legible:
Left Shank: Stamped with the classic BBB diamond logo over SILVER MOUNTED.
Right Shank: Stamped LONDON ENGLAND over shape code 534.
Silver Band: Stamped with the matching BBB diamond and full London sterling hallmarks dating precisely to 1977.
