Dunhill Bruyere '738' Group 2 Acorn (1962 / 1974 Dual-Stamp) - Estate
A Rare Time-Capsule Anomaly
Every so often, the history books at White Label open up to reveal something truly extraordinary. This Group 2 Bruyere is a legendary Dunhill time capsule. The shank proudly bears a double date stamping: a suffix "2" indicating its birth and carving in 1962, alongside a second stamped "4" from 1974. Temporarily shelved at the factory or an elite London tobacconist for twelve years, it was re-stamped in 1974 to activate its factory warranty upon its official retail sale. It is a rare piece of industrial history.
The Elusive 738 Acorn Beyond the stamps, the shape itself is "rare as hens' teeth." The 738 is Dunhill’s classic interpretation of the Acorn—a wonderfully delicate, flowing silhouette featuring a gently swelling bowl that tapers down to a soft point at the base. Dressed in the iconic, deep-plum Bruyere smooth finish, the briar shows off a gorgeous cross-grain contrast with dense birds-eye dancing across the rim.
The slender, tapered vulcanite stem features the immaculate, pristine white spot and a wonderfully comfortable, razor-thin button.
Condition: Near-Mint / Time-Capsule. It is abundantly clear this pipe has been treated as a prized collector's artifact. The rim is crisp and only slightly darkened over time, the deep nomenclature stamps are perfectly legible, and the stem is a stark, mirror-polished black.
Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
