Dunhill Shell 31023 Bent Billiard - 1978 Estate

Sale Price: €310.00 Original Price: €345.00

A Ruggedly Textured, Late-70s British Classic with Rich Burgundy Undertones

For enthusiasts who appreciate the deep, craggy architecture of traditional English sandblasting, this 1978 Dunhill Shell Briar is an exemplary find. Showcasing the deeply craggy, tactile blast that defined the London workshop's late-1970s output, this medium-sized Bent Billiard balances a robust, masculine feel with a highly comfortable, effortless hang.

Deeply Sculpted Crags & Hidden Highlights

The sandblast on this specimen is wonderfully dramatic, featuring deeply undercut, vertical ridges that wrap seamlessly around the plump, rounded bowl. Under direct light, the finish reveals gorgeous, subtle flashes of rich burgundy and dark oxblood peeking through the dark charcoal valleys, particularly accentuating the organic texture of the rim. The deep texture provides a marvelous tactile experience while remaining exceptionally clean and crisp.

Condition: Excellent / Estate. The bowl is structurally pristine with a clean, well-maintained chamber. The craggy sandblasted rim shows no signs of inner charring or modern wear. Nomenclature stamped on the smooth under-panel of the shank is fully legible and intact: 31023 followed by DUNHILL / SHELL BRIAR and a clear MADE IN ENGLAND¹⁸.

Stem: 9.9 The original vulcanite taper stem has been meticulously polished to a glass-like finish, retaining its deep, jet-black luster free of oxidation or deep tooth impressions. The iconic White Spot sits perfectly flush and bright.

Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
