Georg Jensen "Gigant" Fireflame - 1970s Estate
An Absolute Titan of Vintage Danish Briar with Mind-Bending Contrast Grain
If you appreciate the bold scale and artistic presence of classic Danish carving, this Georg Jensen "Gigant" is a monumental find. True to its name, this oversized billiard boasts incredible heft, thick, insulating bowl walls, and a hand-feel that commands respect. But what elevates this specific piece into the stratosphere is its rare "Fireflame" designation—the highest tier of grain selection in the Jensen lineup
A Tale of Two Flanks: Flame and Birdseye
This pipe is a masterclass in briar geometry. One side of the bowl showcases a dramatic, vertical cascade of tight flame grain that wraps around the shank. Flip it over, and the wood transforms into a dense, bubbling field of intricate birdseye that covers the entire opposite flank. The rich, ruby-orange contrast stain pulls out every microscopic line of the wood, ensuring this giant turns heads from any angle.
Condition: Excellent / Fully Restored. The nomenclature is crisp and deeply struck, showing Georg Jensen / Made in Denmark / Pipes on the smooth shank flank, GIGANT / 2858 on the underside, and the coveted Fireflame stamp on the far side. The chamber is clean, the rim is crisp and beautifully intact , and the vulcanite stem has been polished back to a mirror-black finish, complete with the gold Jensen "GJ" logo stamp
Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
