Svendborg Danish Freehand Billiard - 1970s Estate
If you appreciate the golden era of Danish pipemaking, this Svendborg Hand Made is a spectacular example. Born from the legendary workshops of Svendborg, this piece captures that iconic Danish flair—bridging the gap between a classic stout Billiard and a comfortable, organic freehand.
The grain on this piece is exceptionally striking. Vibrant, fiery flame paths race up the flanks of the bowl, contrasted by a deep, dark grain wash that gives the wood incredible visual depth. The smooth, wide rim is capped with a beautiful display of natural contrast stained grain. The shank is adorned with a heavy, lustrous sterling silver band, crisp with the SVENDBORG DANISH HANDMADE nomenclature on top, and stamped T925S on the far side.
Condition Report: Restored to an exceptional standard. The rim is completely smooth and entirely free from any scorching or darkening (the deep contrast you see is pure, natural grain pattern!). The vulcanite stem has been polished to a deep, glass-like black shine and fits perfectly flush against the silver band with absolutely minimal chatter. To maintain absolute transparency, the underside of the bowl features two small, shallow natural sand pits/briar inclusions from the original block (clearly documented in the photos), which are entirely cosmetic and do not affect the integrity of the smoked. It’s ready to become a favorite daily companion.
Comes with the original white Svendborg Pouch.
