Butz-Choquin ‘Millesime 1984’ - New Old Stock
A spectacular piece of high-grade French pipemaking history, this New Old Stock (NOS) unsmoked Millesime 1984 represents the very early genesis of Butz-Choquin's highly coveted annual Pipe of the Year series. Preserved in pristine, untouched condition for over four decades, this 1984 edition is a monumental find for collectors of vintage French briar.
The shape is a beautifully contoured, elegant bent brandy featuring an exceptionally thick, insulating bowl wall. The briar displays a striking, dramatic flame grain that climbs vertically up the sides of the bowl, perfectly balanced by a clean, smooth rim showing the absolute purity of the virgin briar. A signature integrated oval silver year-plaque graces the shank, transitioning seamlessly into a stunning, sweeping cumberland vulcanite stem with the classic embedded "BC" emblem.
Condition Report: 10/10 Mint NOS Condition. Completely unsmoked with an untouched chamber. The high-contrast, rich ruby-orange stain is perfectly preserved without a hint of fading or handling wear. The cumberland stem is mirror-polished, crisp, and entirely free of oxidation or tooth chatter.
Curation Notes: As one of the earliest installments in BC’s legendary annual series, the 1984 Millesime is an incredibly difficult piece to locate in any condition—finding one in entirely unsmoked, flawless NOS condition is a true collector's milestone. A quintessential 1984 birth-year masterpiece.
