Georg Jensen "Grand Prix" Smooth Matte Bent Apple/Brandy — New Old Stock

Sale Price: €135.00 Original Price: €155.00

A Pristine, Time-Capsule Piece of late 1970s / early 1980s Danish Pipe History

For collectors of unblemished vintage briar, this Georg Jensen Grand Prix (Shape 1629) is a genuine time capsule. Remaining completely unsmoked and in New Old Stock (NOS) condition since it left the Danish factory decades ago, this muscular bent apple/Brandy hybrid is a masterclass in the understated elegance that put Jensen on the global map during the peak of the Danish pipe boom.

Swirling Grain Topography & Virgin Matte Finish

This piece features Jensen's highly desirable smooth matte finish—completely devoid of heavy varnishes or lacquers, allowing the natural tactile quality of the wood to take center stage. The grain pattern is wonderfully complex: the left flank bursts with a dense, chaotic field of swirling bird's-eye and cross-grain, which seamlessly transitions into an elegant cascade of flame grain sweeping across the underbelly and up the right side of the bowl.

Condition: Mint / New Old Stock (Unsmoked). The pipe is entirely pristine. The chamber is completely unsmoked with fresh factory wood visible and original factory bowl blacking, the rim top is immaculate, and the smooth shank features razor-sharp, crisp factory stamping: GEORG JENSEN over made in Denmark PIPE, with the GRAND PRIX line name on the reverse flank, and the shape code 1629 clearly struck near the transition. Pouch Only.

Stem & Fit: The original vulcanite stem features the iconic inlaid white "GJ" logo, remaining completely pitch-black, free of oxidation, and sitting perfectly flush against the shank.
