An Unsmoked Limited Vintage Collector's Piece Featuring an Inlaid Silver Date Plaque, Softened Panel Shank, and Pristine Virgin Briar
The Architecture & French Pedigree Released as part of Butz-Choquin's prestigious Millésime (Vintage) annual series, this 1987 release is a brilliant demonstration of Saint-Claude craftsmanship. The pipe features a modified panelled Billiard/Dublin profile, defined by flat side panels on the shank that taper into gently rounded top and bottom surfaces. Embedded seamlessly into the upper shank panel is a silver plaque (Argent grade) engraved with 1987. The natural blonde briar finish is exceptional, bursting with dense birds-eye along the bowl flanks and tight flame grain flowing across the shank structure. Preserved in unsmoked New Old Stock condition, it remains a rare snapshot of late-80s French pipe design.
Curation Notes:
Condition: Unsmoked New Old Stock (NOS). Pristine, raw chamber with zero burn or cake. The silver shank plaque is bright and untarnished, and the rim retains its sharp factory geometry. The stem carries its original, crisp silver BC inlay.
Nomenclature: Deeply stamped under the shank: Butz-Choquin signature over MILLESIME Ⓐ 21 alongside ST CLAUDE FRANCE. Top Shank: Inlaid silver plaque engraved 1987.
Included: Includes a protective leather pouch (no original box).
