Dunhill Bruyere short Apple Shape 86 - 1975 Estate
An Ultra-Elegant, Pocket-Sized English Masterpiece in a Deep Oxblood Finish
For collectors who prize flawless symmetry, svelte proportions, and the smooth, flowing lines of traditional English design, this 1975 Dunhill Bruyere is an absolute jewel. Executed in the highly coveted, classic Shape 86 Apple, this pocket-friendly compact pipe is a stunning showcase of the refined craftsmanship coming out of the London factory during the mid-1970s.
The Architecture & Elegant Sizing Shape 86 is celebrated by design purists as one of Dunhill’s most perfectly balanced silhouettes. The stummel features a beautifully rounded, plump Apple bowl with thick, insulating walls that feel magnificent in the hand. Measuring an incredibly svelte 120mm in length, its compact footprint and featherweight balance make it the ultimate "companion pipe" for a traveling pouch.
As a Bruyere grade, the briar has been treated with Dunhill's legendary deep plum-oxblood finish. The smooth, high-gloss surface beautifully highlights a tight swirl of dense birdseye across the flanks and fine cross-grain dancing along the front and back of the bowl.
Curation Notes:
Condition: Outstanding Vintage Condition. Buffed to a rich, glassy luster. The smooth briar body is remarkably preserved, entirely free of deep fills, chatter, or rim darkening.
Stem & Comfort: Fitted with its original, svelte vulcanite stem featuring a traditional fish-tail bit for a micro-thin, effortless clench. The iconic White Spot inlay is crisp, vibrant, and perfectly flush.
Nomenclature & Dating: Stamped with sharp, flawless definition along the round shank:
86 DUNHILL BRUYERE cleanly struck on the left (Denoting the Classic Apple pattern).
MADE IN ENGLAND15 3A (The raised, underlined suffix 15 definitively dates this piece to 1975).
Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
