Karl Erik Smooth Matte Freehand (Grade 2SM) - Late 70s Early 80s Estate

€115.00

A Compact Danish Freehand Masterpiece with Plateau Details

The Form & Warm Matte Finish

Karl Erik Ekstrem was famous for letting the natural contours and grain of raw briar dictate his shapes, and this compact Freehand Dublin is a masterclass in organic design. Unlike high-gloss lacquered pieces, this example features a silky, smooth matte finish that highlights the raw, organic feel of the briar.

The grain rolls smoothly across the forward-leaning Dublin bowl, but the real showstoppers are the raw details: a craggy, rugged plateau crown along the rim paired with a matching patch of natural plateau right at the shank face. Paired with Karl Erik's signature fancy-turned stem, it delivers incredible artisan flair in a remarkably comfortable, hand-friendly scale.

Curation Notes:

  • Condition: Excellent Restored Estate. Chamber is completely solid and clean, the plateau rim shows zero rim charring, and the distinctive vulcanite stem shines like new.

  • Nomenclature: Flat shank underside stamped Karl Erik in iconic script over HANDMADE IN DENMARK and grade code 2SM.

The pipe bowl has been gently reamed, Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise the internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
