Georg Jensen Hand Cut Freehand Sitter - 1970s New Old Stock RARE

€175.00

The Architecture & Danish Modern Heritage

Founded in 1954, the Georg Jensen workshop in Denmark became famous for blending Scandinavian minimalism with dramatic, ergonomic freehand shapes. While their standard catalog featured classic shapes, their elite "Hand Cut" workshop pieces gave carvers freedom to let the briar block dictate the form.

This rare 1970s piece is a masterclass in mid-century Danish design: an avant-garde, flared sitter featuring a flat-bottomed footprint, a sweeping forward posture, and an asymmetrical smooth-crowned rim. The briar displays phenomenal flame grain climbing up the flanks, crowned by a rich pattern of bird's-eye across the rim.

Curation Notes:

  • Condition: Pristine Unsmoked New Old Stock. Original factory bowl coating is completely untouched, with zero rim charring, handling wear, or stem oxidation.

  • Nomenclature: Shank underside crisp stamping: HAND CUT, GEORG JENSEN PIPES, FACTORY DENMARK. Features the iconic white-filled interlocked GJ monogram inlay on the black acrylic stem ring.
