Preben Holm "De Luxe" Hand Cut Freehand - 1970s Estate Rare

Sale Price: €255.00 Original Price: €295.00

A Masterclass in Danish Freehand Design Featuring a Flared Triangular Shank, Peachy-Amber Contrast Finish, and Sculpted Crown Stem

The Architecture & Danish Pedigree Preben Holm was a defining force of the 1970s Danish Freehand revolution, world-renowned for his dramatic, organic proportions and masterful wood selection. This De Luxe grade specimen captures the absolute best of his design language. The bowl rises into an asymmetric, gently tilted Dublin form with a broad, flat rim displaying tight, natural bird's eye grain. Below, the shank expands into a signature flat-bottomed triangular fan that frames the underside nomenclature. The finish is extraordinary—a vibrant, multi-tone peachy-amber contrast stain that brings out fiery vertical flame grain across both flanks. It is fitted with a hand-cut vulcanite stem featuring a sculpted, flare-ring base that continues the organic line of the stummel.

Curation Notes:

  • Tier: High-Grade Danish Freehand Collector

  • Condition: Excellent Estate Condition. The chamber is smooth, clean, and structurally sound. The rim is pristine with zero darkening. The vulcanite stem is deep black with a mirror polish, bearing only microscopic tooth chatter on the underside near the lip.

  • Nomenclature: Crisp, deep stamping on the flattened shank underside: PREBEN HOLM over DE LUXE over HAND MADE over IN over DENMARK. Stem bears the crisp white factory crown emblem.

  • Included: Pouch.

Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, this pipe has only been gently reamed and stem cleaned.
