Stanwell Brazilia Regd. Era Bent Dublin by Sixten Ivarsson - Estate

€125.00

A Highly Collectible 1960s Registration Era Danish Classic with Striking Triangular Geometry and a Gorgeous Crowned Rim

For serious collectors of Danish mid-century design, this Stanwell Brazilia Shape 19 is an absolute treat. Penned for the company by the grandfather of modern pipemaking, Sixten Ivarsson, this rare Registration Era piece dates cleanly between 1948 and 1970—offering a piece of authentic Danish history that doubles as a magnificent daily companion.

The Ivarsson Geometry & Lines

The Shape 19 is one of Ivarsson’s most celebrated geometric triumphs for Stanwell. The bowl features a distinct, aerodynamic rim profile reminiscent of a soft shield or guitar pick, accented by an organic, beautifully rounded crowned rim. In profile, the bowl flares outward like a classic Dublin before tapering down into a subtle, muscular protruding "foot" at the base of the heel. Dressed in the rich, deep walnut-contrast stain of the Brazilia line, the stummel boasts an exceptional display of tight flame grain climbing the front panel, balanced by dense clusters of birdseye on the flanks. The classic vulcanite saddle stem features a soft, sweeping bend that makes this avant-garde sculpture float effortlessly in the jaw.

Curation Notes:

  • Condition: Very Good, Honest Estate Condition. The stummel is structurally rock-solid with a clean chamber. The rim shows a touch of historic darkening from its previous owner, adding a wonderful, authentic patina. The vulcanite stem is deep black with almost zero chatter; the white inlaid stem "S" shows slight, honest vintage fading but remains completely intact.

  • Nomenclature: Stamped with superb historical clarity on the smooth shank under-panels: Features the highly coveted STANWELL over REGD. No. 969-48, alongside BRAZILIA and the crisp shape code 19.

Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
