The Architecture & Fluidity A breathtaking throwback to the golden era of lightweight Danish design, this Georg Jensen Straight Grain is a study in elegant proportions. The stummel features a beautifully proportioned, bowl that move organically , smooth rim. In a stunning display of engineering bravery, the carver rapidly tapers the briar down into an incredibly slender, pencil-thin round shank.
To complement this weightless silhouette, the pipe features a custom, hand-sculpted vulcanite fancy stem that flows out of the mortise with a subtle, swelling collar before dipping into a long, elegant curve toward the lip. The contrast-stained amber finish highlights a spectacular, textbook canvas of tight vertical straight grain wrapping entirely around the bowl, anchored by an immaculate field of swirling birds-eye across the flat rim.
Curation Notes:
Condition: Flawless Vintage Estate Condition. Fully detailed, and buffed to a spectacular mirror finish with pure carnauba wax. The chamber walls are pristine, the rim is crisp and un-charred, and the delicate vulcanite stem is pitch-black with a high-luster factory shine.
Nomenclature: Stamped with crisp vintage definition along the slender shank panels: Right reads Straight Grain in elegant script over the factory sub-codes. Right carries the bold GEORG JENSEN over MADE IN DENMARK country mark. The stem features the iconic white "GJ" stamp cleanly centered near the junction.
Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
